Executive of the Year Award



Wellington’s David White won the CoreNet New Zealand Property People Corporate Real Estate Executive of the year for 2013. 

David led the establishment of the Government Property management Centre of Expertise, and continues as Director of the unit.  Presented at the CoreNet symposium held at the Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland, the event and award is organised by the New Zealand Chapter of CoreNet Global.

The winner is chosen for their outstanding contribution to the Corporate Real Estate profession.  The judges reward the winner who has had a demonstrable impact on the Corporate real estate profession and has the respect of their peers as a person who has delivered leadership in Corporate Real Estate. 

David White
, the winner of CoreNet Global’s Property People Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year Award, has been the Director of Property Management Centre of Expertise since it was established two years ago.  He was charged with reviewing government’s use of property as a platform which delivers accommodation for around 61,000 government staff; establishing a community of practice; documenting good practice guidance; and assisting agencies in the application of best practice to their portfolios.  In late 2012 the mandate was expanded to be one of functional leadership of all departmental office accommodation.

Has a role that holds overall responsibility for the largest workplace challenge in New Zealand.  He has a remit to shape workplace strategy for the largest property portfolio in New Zealand encapsulating: 

  • An annual spend of $324m in lease costs 
  • 1.6 million  sqm of office space in; 
  • 1,129 buildings for; 
  • 61,000 FTE’s
  • He has already had a significant impact on Corporate Real Estate and is set to have further impact as future initiatives are rolled out.
  • He has developed initiatives that will significantly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the property portfolio to the benefit of both occupiers and the government.
  • His task requires considerable mental aptitude, belief and perseverance underpinned by a powerful intellect.
