CORENET FUTURE LEADERS 2014
One of our key initiatives for this year is to establish the Future Leaders programme. In order to ensure the continued success and long term growth of our chapter, it’s critical that we continue to attract new and younger members.
Future Leaders are members who are aged up to 35 years old and they, along with other special membership categories like Tertiary Students and Academics, are eligible for discounted membership fees.
We want to expand the demographic we serve and, in the future, provide knowledge, networking and events that will be relevant to Future Leaders, as well as meeting the needs of our current CoreNet community.
Matt Meehan (PMCoE, Wellington), Tammy Liao (CBRE, Auckland) and Sophie McLaren (Colliers, Auckland) form the core of the Future Leaders committee, assisted by Nigel Rye, Tony Moore, Bob Bull and Andrew Tu’inukuafe as required.
What we’re doing:
1.
Corenet and Future Leaders (FL) membership has been introduced to eligible industry contacts predominantly in Auckland and Wellington initially through a survey and then an evening drinks function in those two cities. There are currently 187 FL eligible contacts on our database, 14 of whom are members.
2.
A mentoring scheme and a shared CRE/ Property Industry shared calendar of events have been targeted as key offerings/ benefits to FL members.
3.
A one page summary has been written by Matt to introduce the FL Mentoring scheme to both mentors and mentees and he has also set up a central database of volunteer Mentors which is starting to be populated (19 mentors and counting). This summary is to be circulated to members and contacts to increase the number of potential mentors and to start matching them with mentees.
4.
It’s suggested that we have another New Year get together drinks in February in both Auckland and Wellington specifically focused on FL and to talk about the Mentoring scheme in more detail.
5.
Also, it’s suggested that we offer free attendance to events for potential FL members until May 2014, giving them a good opportunity to attend, network, and experience the benefits of membership firsthand.
6.
Weekly conference calls have been set up to regularly catch up and to get this initiative underway.
