This is clearly a new year. From introductory CoreNet Global speakers through to the visiting keynote, the message is that this is definitely NOT 2009.
The Business of CoreNet Global:
With a welcome by the Governor of Louisiana, CNG participants got their first taste of the hospitality that is unique to this part of the world, and injected with the enthusiasm that is the rejuvenation of New Orleans.
CoreNet Global management followed with much enthusiasm for the year(s) ahead the opportunities we have in front of us. Lee Utke, incoming Chairman talked to the major successes over the last year for the organization, despite the challenges. Beefed up programming, training, discovery forums increase in first time new members and a significant number of individuals achieving MCR and SLCR status. Certainly a sign of CRE successes yet to come!
Interim CEO Ron Zappile, introduced and thanked for bringing youth, experience, enthusiasm and true change to CNG during his tenure, also talked to the successes this past year despite the challenges. With business improvements and Think Tanks among others, will yield positive results for the organization and its membership for years to come.
Following a warm welcome to new CEO Angela Cain, Ron and Angela distributed top CoreNet awards for Industry Excellence to Wicely, Sustainability and Design to Space Matrix Design Consultants and Innovative Economic Development to Kansas City Area Development Council.
Global Learning Officer Brenda Wisniewski spoke to the increasing number of SCLR and MCR recipients, congratulating the latest class.
Followed by Linda DeMars, VP of Global Summits, we also learned about an innovative new technology debuting here in New Orleans. A new phone app allows summit participants to manage their summit experience via their phone, along with voting on content for particular sessions to be held later during the summit. A nice touch to making a summit truly custom and meeting needs. Plus she introduced a fun contest to identify hidden bandanas throughout the summit here in New Orleans to be eligible for a 2-night stay in Phoenix – timed to extend your stay at the next CoreNet Global Summit Phoenix!
I hope all enjoy what is truly going to be an innovative and upbeat summit! And, good luck finding bandanas!
