As we look to 2012, our knowledge function within the community is seeking your participation and contributions in a number of areas. We have 4 areas that will be the focus of our research and knowledge next year and the only way we can make it a success is to have the community actively participate in the effort!
Call to action:
- If you are interested in assisting or contributing to any aspect of these initiatives please contact me at bcollins@microsoft.com
- Deadline: Friday, January 10, 2012.
4 Themes
1. Organize the conventional wisdom
We are looking to develop a process that outlines how we manage our Knowledge Center (place where you can access CoreNet presentations and research) around Workplace Strategy. We need the Knowledge Center to continue to grow and stay current. This initiative will encourage the ongoing contribution of Workplace Strategy related content and collateral and make that information more easily accessible by our members. This initiative will determine a framework for how information can be accessed in the future by reviewing current content, aligning it to the Community’s needs and setting the taxonomy for searching and sorting information and content.
2. Mentoring program
The goal of this initiative is to develop a Mentor Reference Guide for the Community. This guide will provide us with structured support for a mentoring program within the Community. Mentoring helps you tap into the experience and expertise of others in the Community to help facilitate your professional development and career growth. The partnership that you have with your mentor or mentee provides career development opportunities for both sides. Once the program is established, we will be seeking members to participate as mentors and mentees.
3. Unconventional knowledge
We are looking to bring in experts outside of our own core knowledge function to present and discuss how their fields impact our industry. It is expected that these could be multi-dimensional (through webinars, on premise, though local chapters, etc.). We want your input on people you know of who may have interesting perspectives to shares with our Community. Your submissions should include an overall objective statement, your proposed format for the interaction, how we would go about implementing and key takeaways. In addition, we are looking for members of the Community to review and evaluate the submissions for suitability for presentation.
4. The X Prize
Having been inspired by the General Session at the Summit in Atlanta, the Community would like explore the notion of using the “X-Prize” concept to assess the scope and framework and possible sponsorship for a competition that will inspire new and diverse thinking which may benefit our industry.
On behalf of the Workplace Community, I would like to wish you all the best for the holidays and new-year!
Regards,
